A lot of people think that knowing basic strategy means that you are going to win every hand. Unfortunately this is not true. Knowing basic strategy helps you make the best odds on average compared to any other play, which simply means you know what the move to make is on various occasions. For instance when you play any online blackjack casino game and let’s say that you have a 17 and the dealer’s face up card shows 6. What should you do then, hit or stand? Any blackjack player would know that it would be best to stand because the basic strategy tells him to do so. But say the dealer reveals his face down card to show a 10, then hits a 4 and gets 20. He may have won, but had you hit you would have had 21 and won the game. So was it wrong to stand? No it wasn’t, because you cannot tell how the game will play out and the basic strategy guides you in making the most optimum moves.
