Responding to the article published in ‘The Age’, Victoria Premier John Bumbry (in Australia), categorically stated that there is no proof that blackjack and poker could lead to problem gambling, in fact reputed casinos like Crown Casino were allowed to increase their table games by 150 which was approved by the Victorian Government, Australia. Table games, especially blackjack casino games, have become so popular over the years and as such could not pose any problems, since there was so much transparency and fair-play exercised in all the games.

John Bumbry also spoke to Radio 3AW and commented that people live in a democratic environment and have the freedom to do as they please, so dictating terms and telling people what to do and what not to was really uncalled for as many people would not appreciate it and would feel that their privacy was being invaded. With regard to slots however he mentioned that they may pose a problem in gambling if their numbers kept increasing rapidly as they attracted huge jackpots and this could be an area of concern.
Scientists have proved that problem gambling is primarily due to physiological reasons, and as such the games have no part to play in this misconception.
