For all those that have never played blackjack before, but are interested in learning, then this article is for you. You won’t become an expert after reading this, but hopefully you will have a great understanding of it and of how to play this really fun card game.

The aim of online blackjack gambling is to get a hand that has a value of 21 or closer to it than the dealer or casino and without going over 21. That is why it is also called “21″. In a land based casino, players play individually against the dealer and they have no effect on each other’s game. If you have the same value as the dealer, it is called a “push” and you get your bet back. In online casinos you don’t share a table with other online casino players, and like land based casinos, you only play against the casino.
To start the game, each player, as well as the dealer, gets dealt 2 cards. You are offered more cards if you need. The blackjack card values are:
- Cards 2 to 10 are worth their face value (10 is worth 10 points, 5 is worth 5 points)
- Face cards are worth 10 points.
- The Ace is worth 11 or 1 depending on the other cards dealt.
Blackjack Rules:
A “soft hand” is a blackjack hand where the Ace is valued at 11 because you cannot go bust on receiving the next card. The Ace can change to the value of 1 if you do receive cards that could take the overall value above 21.
A “pitch game” is where a game is played from 1 or 2 decks of cards. Cards are dealt face-down.
A “shoe” is where a game is played from 4 or more decks of cards. Cards are dealt face-up.
The dealer’s cards are dealt with one face-up and the other face-down.
You win automatically if you hit 21/Blackjack (An Ace and a card with a value of 10, like a Queen).
Once you are dealt your 2 cards, you have the following options:
1. Hit – you take another card.
2. Stand – you don’t take another card.
3. Double Down – you can double your wager and take another card and then Stand.
4. Split – if you are dealt 2 cards with the same value, you can split the cards, and each one becomes the first card in a new hand.
5. Surrender – you give up the hand.
Your turn is over once you have either stood, double downed or went bust. The dealer however needs follow certain rules too… The dealer cannot split cards and must hit until 17 or greater. If the dealer goes bust then all remaining hands win.
