According to the new law land based casinos would have to dish out taxes from 45 to 75 percent whereas online casinos would have to pay 20 percent tax. This would give online casinos a definite advantage over land based casinos.

The gambling organizations in Denmark, including slot machines played at restaurants and bars, are all privately owned and operated.

The land based casino operators in Denmark believe that all gambling companies operating in the same country should have the same tax treatment. Online casinos have been operating in Denmark illegally for many years and they get the greatest reward by having to pay only one third of the taxes the land based casinos have to pay.
The gambling laws will only be enforced early next year therefore the country has time to re-structure the taxes.
